How You Can Help

We will have almost 100 riders and support personnel making the trip all the way to DC this year. Another 15-20 will join us for Day One. We need your help. How? Here are a few ways:

  • Money. We need money for fuel, food, lodging, and other expenses for all the riders and support crew PLUS we want to add to the fund that benefits those aspiring to be officers through the Charlotte's Finest Legacy Foundation. With more participants this year the total $$ needed will increase. Finding one donor to write the Big Check would be great; however, it wouldn’t take that many small donors to make a big difference. Last year the community was very generous and we were able to meet our fundraising goal. We know this year will be a challenge - and due to the number of riders, our goal for this year is $60,000.
  • To donate by credit card, click on the logo below, please look for the block to put the name of the cyclist you are supporting. You do not have to have a PayPal account to donate by credit card.

  • Bike to DC partners with Charlotte's Finest Legacy Foundation, a well established 501(c)3 forganization. Any money raised in excess of expenses will go toward a fund the Foundation uses to provide scholarships to young people pursuing a career in law enforcement.

  • Vehicles. We need vehicles to haul food, luggage, bikes, and cyclists! Thanks to these companies for Bike to DC 2016 transportation:
  • U-Haul and Penske each provided a 17' truck to haul luggage and food during the trip.

Horizon Coach Lines helped us with coaches to transport our officers back from DC to Charlotte after the end of our ride.

We still need fuel for the vehicles, it's a major expense.

  • Lodging. We will be staying in Asheboro NC, South Boston VA, Richmond VA, and DC – but have been unable to get any “deals” when making reservations. If you have any contacts with any of hotel in those cities that might be able to help us with comped rooms or even discount rates that will make a big impact. Any help here would be huge - lodging accounts for most of our expenses.
  • Food and drink. Things like:
  • Gift Cards for meals
    Gift Cards for groceries
    Water and sports drinks
Snacks along the way - crackers, pretzels, chips
    Gels, Nutrition bars
  • Publicity. Spread the word about the ride. Direct people to this website. Even if you don’t raise money, it will raise awareness.

  • Donate

To donate by credit card, click on the logo below, please look for the block to put the name of the cyclist you are supporting. You do not have to ahve a PayPal account to donate by credit card.
